Our team will contact you to confirm your appointment. Tests must be scheduled no later than two (2) business days prior to the requested test date.

FAA Pilot License Conversion

The FAA Pilot license conversion process is fairly simple but can take a few months. Below is a quick overview of the steps involved

Get a Foreign License Verification letter The FAA website explains the different steps to convert your ICAO license to a Private Pilot license. Visit https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/foreign_license_verification/ for more information.

Warning: this process can be lengthy, be sure to start it early.

TSA Approval

Although you are completing an FAA license conversion, you will need to complete your instrument rating with an examiner. You will also need to apply for TSA clearance before starting this training. This guide provides great information regarding the process. Here is an overview of the steps involved:

  1. Create an account and apply for training at: http://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/
  2. The flight school will approve your request
  3. TSA will email you with a request to pay an application fee
  4. TSA will review your application and send fingerprinting instructions
  5. Fingerprinting is done upon arrival in Prescott, AZ
  6. TSA will review fingerprints and issue a final approval
  7. Be sure to start this process BEFORE arriving in the US. Step 1 through 4 can be completed prior to arrival, which will save a lot of time and money. Note that you cannot start flight training until TSA issues a final approval.

Visa Issuance

You will also need to receive an M-1 visa for your training. Our team is ready to help you. The visa process is simple:

  1. We will send you an I-2o form via overnight shipping
  2. Make an appointment to an American Embassy in your country
  3. Receive your M1 visa

DO NOT book your airplane ticket until you have an M1 visa and a Letter of Verification from the FAA.

Unmanned Aircraft Knowledge Test

In June 2016, the FAA released its final rules concerning commercial use of a small UAV.

Starting in August 2016, if you want to operate your UAS or drone for commercial purposes, you will have to receive a remote pilot certificate. To qualify for a remote pilot certificate, you must:

Pass an initial aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center (which can be done at North-Aire, see below for more details); or Hold a part 61 pilot certificate other than student pilot, complete a flight review within the previous 24 months, and complete a small UAS online training course provided by the FAA.

You will also need to be vetted by the Transportation Security Administration and be at least 16 years old.

Part 61 pilot certificate holders may obtain a temporary remote pilot certificate immediately upon submission of their application for a permanent certificate. Other applicants will obtain a temporary remote pilot certificate upon successful completion of TSA security vetting. The FAA anticipates that it will be able to issue a temporary remote pilot certificate within 10 business days after receiving a completed remote pilot certificate application.

You can read an abstract of the new regulation here.

If you currently do NOT hold a part 61 pilot certificate, you can get started today by calling us at 928-445-8320.
